Standing out in your essays like a wet fart in the library

“Standing out like a wet fart in the library.”
I heard that phrase a little while ago and it cracked me up.
Really gets the point across.
Especially for those of us who have spent a rather considerable amount of our time in the library.
And who have experienced, first hand or from a distance, the attention grabbing qualities of this dry-heave-inducing, slightly concerning, yet always amusing sound as it rips through and destroys the heavenly tranquillity of a library.
Since then I’ve been desperately looking for an opportunity to use it. ‘Cause that’s the kinda fun loving guy I am 🙂
And low and behold…
Thank you, Baby Jesus… (Reference from the movie, “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby”, one of the best Will Ferrel movies, in my humble opinion)
I’ve found it.
And it was hiding in the GAMSAT essays all along.
Look, after helping students with the GAMSAT for over 12 years now, one of the biggest issues with most people’s essays is that they are boring, plain and standard.
With the pressure of the exam day and the time ticking away, they pick the first standard essay idea that comes to mind and run with it.
But so do 5000 other people sitting the exam.
Which makes you like everyone else.
And that’s a problem.
Because what you make of the theme of the quotes is the most important factor that determines your essay score, and whether this section helps you to become a doctor, or prevents that dream from occurring.
You’re essay ideas need to stand out, like a wet fart in the library.
So this Thursday I’m going to show you how to do that, step-by-step, so you can comfortably do it on the day to give yourself the best chance of an incredible essay score, while everyone else is making a mess of it.
In fact, it’s what Alisha did to increase her essay score by 10 marks – not bad.
Even better…
It’s what Kiara did to increase her score by 25 markers – which is almost unheard of, unless you apply the strategies and techniques that I will be covering here.
EVEN even better…
It’s what David did to go from outright failing the previous year to scoring 75. And he loved what we did for him so much that he came back and became one of our tutors – that’s what he’s talking about in this screenshot you can see here:
That’s already plenty to give you, but if I’m at it, I’ll even show you a strategy used by one of my students, Joseph, to score in the 100th percentile on his first go, because if we’re doing this let’s do it right!
But a word of warning…
As much fun as we’re having here sneaking toilet humour into GAMSAT prep, the stuff I talk about is not a magic pill, or for those who are not ready or willing to engage their brain and effort.
You will need to put in the effort, have patience and not be a lazy bum who’s allergic to hard work.
With the March exam so close, this will be your last opportunity to learn this stuff before the exam.
