Pizza Hut, a bad LSD trip & Netflix: unexpected GAMSAT tips

Pizza Hut, a bad LSD trip & Netflix: unexpected GAMSAT tips

Pizza Hut once ran an ad on TV back when people used to watch it where the delivery guy asked the customer for a tip after delivering his pizza…

The delivery guy was a young fella and the guy standing at the door was more of his dad’s age.

In response to this young fella’s request for a tip,

The old guy just said,

“Work hard and be good to your mother.”

And shut the door with a cheeky smile.

That saying has now become part of Aussie culture.

If you’ve heard it before, that’s where it came from, I think.

And that’s about the extent of the ‘tips’ we give when someone requests a phone call with us just to get some tips and tricks.

If you’re lucky enough to get a call with our team (because they’re rare, extremely helpful and get snapped up fast) we go into a lot of detail and spend a lot of time going deep into your GAMSAT preparation so that you know how to actually do it right.

And we do that for free.

But we don’t just do tips.

Especially if you’re going well and are happy with your progress.

Instead I’d say that if you’re going well then do an ACER half paper under exam conditions and let’s see where you stand.

If you’re getting over 70% correct (under timed conditions), then just keep going.

If you’re getting less then we may be able to help.

As for ‘tricks’…

I can do a magic trick that my 3-year-old daughter loves 🙂

But alas,

I suspect she’s quickly catching onto that one and is just playing along to make me happy.

But seriously,

Overall you’ve got to dig deeper to the psychology of someone who’s looking for tips and tricks to get them through the hardest exam they’ve ever done.

Do you really think that’s all it takes?

Do you really think that’s what you need – a trick – to get you over the line?

Or, what’s probably more accurate is,

How badly have they misjudged this exam?

Because tips and tricks ain’t gonna get you through this thing and it doesn’t Parramatta what the Forum Flexors and Industrial Chicken Farm prep companies may promise or sell you.

So the main piece of advice I can give anyone who is sitting the GAMSAT and is wasting their time (and ours) looking for ‘tips and tricks’ is something I heard on a Netflix show recently about Psychedelics and how to get through a bad LSD trip:

“Hang in there, man.”

If you survive to fight another GAMSAT and realize that it takes more than that to succeed then we can talk seriously about this exam and what it’s going to take for you to get through it.

And if you’re sitting March 2021, and would benefit from having an in-depth look into your preparation and potentially (if it’s a good fit and we’re both happy) discuss the Bootcamp, then click here to schedule in a time.

Cheers,

Dr “Hang in there, man” Tom
