“I’ve been put down so many times in my life”: GAMSAT candidate

Growing up, Bianca was repeatedly told she couldn’t do it and that she wasn’t smart enough to reach her dreams.
Her teachers told her so (which is absolutely pathetic of them).
Even her family doubted her and told her she couldn’t do it. The funny looks they made when she told them her dreams.
The put-downs and insults…
In fact, it got worse because she grew up in an abusive home. So the belittling was literally beat into her.
And just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…
Bianca was diagnosed with cancer, as a child.
It’s a wonder she didn’t just give up right there… Curl up in a ball and wait for death to relieve her pain. It couldn’t be any worse than what she was going through.
Many people sitting the GAMSAT have felt like they’re not smart enough, not good enough.
Dumb, even.
They’ve been told over the years that they can’t do it, that it’s for other people. Who are they to think they can become a doctor when all these ‘smart’ people struggle?
And that stuff stays with you.
It’s there in the back of your mind holding you back, undermining your efforts, making your second guess yourself…
How do you know if it’s holding you back?
The signs are obvious.
You know it’s holding you back if you’re already planning to do 2-3 GAMSATs (already planning to fail it), you want to ‘give it a try’ the first time (because you don’t think you’re good enough to smash it the first time), you don’t think you can improve, you’ve been avoiding preparing for it, you compare yourself to others, you feel scared about the idea of getting a high score (in the 70s or more)…and the list goes on.
Bianca felt it too, and worse.
It affected her GAMSAT attempts. She ended up having to do three of them before she finally addressed these issues.
That was then.
But now, Bianca is studying medicine.
She’s even done a Ph.D.
She has succeeded, reached her dreams, and told everyone to kiss her ass because she made it. That felt amazing.
But it wasn’t easy.
She had to address the fear and doubts, as well as the GAMSAT topics. Because you can’t ignore those doubts – they end up holding you back. They did for Bianca until she addressed them. You can’t just pretend they’re not there and focus on the science topics because they’re already holding you back.
Both need to be addressed.
There is a solution. There is a better way.
And that’s what we cover in our Bootcamp.

See you there,

P.S. Here’s a video of Bianca telling her inspirational story.
