INTERVIEW OFFERS ARE COMING…AND WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU

Over the past few days, there have been several posts from students who have gotten interview offers at Flinders (NB: GEMSAS is yet to release offers, so hold your hats) and it has got lots of you starting to wonder ‘am I going to be so lucky ’ and I just want to address some common thoughts and feelings that come up during this time.

Firstly, it’s normal to start to feel nervous and anxious during the next couple of weeks because you’ll know whether or not, you’re that one step closer to getting into medical school next year and that is scary and exciting!

Being nervous and being excited are the two sides of the same coin so embrace these feelings and no matter what the outcome is for you, or for your friends, take something out of it for yourself.

Secondly, you’re starting to doubt yourself whether you’ll ever make it into medical school. This is the ultimate self-sabotage. If you don’t get an interview this time around, it definitely doesn’t determine your fate that you won’t ever get in.

Thirdly, you’re starting to think about the reality of actually getting into medical school, the costs involved, potential relocation and the scary thought of change. Embrace it. This process is a journey, and you’re going to learn a lot about yourself over the weeks, months and years. And if you have any questions, let the team know. We’re happy to help.
