GAMSAT makes the whole family cry (in a good way)

“The whole family cried when I told them. Except for my dad, of course.” #chinesedad
You’re on a difficult journey with the GAMSAT. It often feels like a massive uphill climb and you don’t know the path.
Jon also had it tough. 4 GAMSAT, 3 rejections, 2 interviews, and finally, an offer.
Yesterday I spoke to Boocamper Jon on the phone to congratulate him. I shared his story with you a couple of days ago, so I won’t go into it again here. But I wanted to talk about him again because he’s just so damn cool.
Can you imagine the tension that built up over those years?!
The stress, the hopes, the dreams all riding on this one exam… And not just for Jon, but his whole family. Jon and his partner put their lives on hold for it. They said they’d get married once it was over.
Finally:
After 4 years of this tension, it was all released.
They all cried with him in happiness that he finally did it (except for his dad because apparently Chinese Dads don’t do that kind of thing). He finally received an offer and is going to become a doctor.
They can now move on with their lives (and in a much better way than before because now he’s a medical student).
It got me thinking…
How many things have you been putting off until this exam is over? And for how long? What kind of tension has been building up for you and your family? Isn’t it about time you get it over and done with?
Jon and I had a great chat. I love my Bootcampers. We work really closely with them all.
Apart from handing over his HDF project to me and the team, Jon wanted a few tips about medical school. Actually, I’m not sure if he wanted them or I just gave them, now that I think about it. Haha
Either way, I was excited for him and told him about what to expect in medical school and my keys to success.
It’s such an honour and privilege for me to have shared this part of the journey with him and all my Bootcampers.
