GAMSAT Beginners: Get in first time by doing the “easiest GAMSAT record” ever.

How bloody brilliant are our women’s swim team in Tokyo right now!
The 400m freestyle relay gals won a gold and shattered the world record…
Which they had previously set themselves. #boss
People think they might be the best team in Aussie history.
McKeon even did what the papers are calling the “easiest Olympic record” ever – she barely broke a freakin’ sweat!
But…
Get them onto a running track,
And they’d probably make a mockery of themselves and the whole country.
Sure, their cardio would be out of this world.
But they’d be tripping over themselves, be slow to start, slow to finish and a mess in the middle.
It’d be a disaster.
Which is kinda like how most people prepare for the GAMSAT…
And it’s one of the main reasons why 80% of people doing the GAMSAT will NOT get into medical school.
Ever.
It’s like they’re preparing for a running race by going swimming.
Here’s what I mean:
If studying for uni is like going swimming,
then GAMSAT is like a running race.
Most people doing the GAMSAT are amazing at uni study. They’ve got good GPAs. They can perform well in uni exams (ie. in the swimming pool). But the GAMSAT is a different type of exam, almost like a completely different sport.
So it requires a different type of preparation.
Yet,
Most people study for it like they do for uni (by getting in the pool) – studying the topics from a textbook or lectures, and then doing practice questions.
And then they schlep onto the running track, i.e. into the GAMSAT, expecting to perform well.
However,
Most of the preparation they did was utterly pointless (they may as well have been watching the Olympics full-time) and so they bomb out with scores in the low 50s or even the 40s.
It’s a disaster.
The Obvious Ostrich and easier-said-than-done solution to this is:
Get out of the pool and onto the running track.
Study for the GAMSAT is a different way, a way that’s actually relevant to the GAMSAT.
That’s who you get in the first time.
And if you’d LOVE to know how to actually do that then this will show you how, especially if you’re doing the GAMSAT for the first time.
It will teach you how to approach your study correctly,
How to best prepare,
And how to actually get started so that you never do the GAMSAT again.
Just like Jane:
But a word of warning:
This all requires hard work and patience, just like it does for the athletes.
And if you apply what I show you and put in the effort,
You very well may set your own personal “easiest GAMSAT record” ever by getting yourself into medical school on your first go.
Cheers,
Dr “Get in first time” Tom
