Ever seen an emergency resuscitation done in a hospital?

It looks like a frickin’ mess.

People everywhere.

Machines peeping, squealing.

Needles, tubes, and leads all over the place like spaghetti thrown on the floor.

People rushing in and out.

The family being ushered away.

Everything’s happening at once.

Airways being assessed and secured. Cannulas inserted. Drugs drawn up and administered. Chest compressed, ribs breaking, leads attached and then…

“Clear!”

Everyone steps away…

Silence…

Then back to it.

All at once.

If you don’t know what’s going on it can be terrifying. Yet everyone knows exactly what to do. Kinda like an ant colony which, seemingly, cannot communicate yet moves together with a shared purpose and mission.

Very different to the “DRSABCD” you learnt about in the resus class:

…First thing,

Make sure there’s no danger. Look left, look right. Move if needed.

Second thing,

See if there’s a response.

Third…

Nuh.

All happens at once in real life. A person for every task, someone leading the team, and the race is on.

This is what I explained to one of my Bootcampers recently about the GAMSAT – it works the same way.

In the essay section, for example,

People sometimes have these rigid templates, or structures, or even essay ideas, they’ve memorised somewhere from a friend or a website and they try to jam them into a GAMSAT essay on the fly.

Doesn’t work.

That’s like trying to do the DRSABCD on a resus in a hospital.

You’ll be overwhelmed in a matter of seconds, not be able to follow and want to leave in tears.

It’s too rigid, too basic, too wrong for the situation.

No wonder people keep getting low scores year after year with these approaches.

Instead,

The key is to act like a doctor.

Understand what the essays are actually about, what they’re looking for and what’s going on – just like in a resus. When you know what the problem is, why you’re doing what you’re doing, and can think about it, then the solution often becomes obvious.

Then apply a few key strategies,

And you can perform at an extraordinary level very quickly.

That’s how this Bootcamper increased her essay score in only a matter of weeks, after trying unsuccessfully for years:

Image she did this on her first GAMSAT attempt! She’s already be in.

Because once you have this knowledge, can think with it, and apply it, there’s almost no essay topic that can stop you.

If you’d like to know how to do that too, then come along to this.

It will show you:

*Why the essay section can be the EASIEST place to increase your score, if you think about and apply what I share with you

*How to impress the marker before they even read your essay – sounds crazy but it works!

*You will discover the MOST important aspect of a GAMSAT essay – it’s what scores the best markers.

*How to impress the markers attention from the first line and have them wanting to read more

*How to impress the marker with your thinking, argument and flow of ideas… even if you’re stuck and don’t really have any.

*Simple ways to structure a GAMSAT essay

*The best way to make your essays stand out from the THOUSANDS of others you are competing against.

*And a bunch more.

But spots are limited and we always fill up.

Leave the DRSABCD of GAMSAT essays to the GAMSAT Hobbyists who do this for fun.

This will show you how to perform well, fast.

Cheers,

Dr “GAMSAT resus” Tom
