ARE YOU GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS?

Ah. GAMSAT. A wonderful and yet soul destroying exam. Many are doing it, many of you are doing it right and many of you are doing it so awfully wrong.
So, are YOU going through the motions? If you haven’t heard of this terminology before, please let me explain.
Basically it means the act of doing something without really believing in it.
How this applies for the GAMSAT is basically when studying, you don’t really give 100% and you don’t really allow yourself to take in the information and learn from it as you don’t believe that you will do good enough, so it justifies when you don’t get a good result or the result you wanted, because well, you were going through the motions.
And unfortunately this act is also a form of self sabotage, like what we discussed in last weeks article.
When it comes to the GAMSAT, going through the motions just doesn’t work and it doesn’t for most things you do in life, because if you don’t really commit or give something the energy it deserves for you to flourish and do well, then there’s not much point in doing it at all.
So, how do you stop yourself from going through the motions?
Firstly, you need to address whether or not you believe in yourself. It’s easy to fall into a pattern or routine of study that becomes the formation of going through the motions.
It’s easier and that’s why a lot of you do it. When you commit to doing something that either challenges you, grows you as a person, or puts you out of your comfort zone then it’s easier to fall into going through the motions rather than applying yourself.
If you know that this act of behaviour is a pattern for you, then take a moment to step back and ask yourself why?
Why do you not apply yourself fully?
Why do you not commit 100%?
Addressing these questions, will help step outside of your comfort zone and achieve something that you truly want.
It doesn’t matter if it takes 1 year of 10 years, never give up on something that truly sets your soul alive.
